Some explanations on <<Commédia dell'arte>>

The Commedia dell' Arte is a form of theatrical Art in Italy born during the sixteen century, but that had a considerable influence on theaters of all countries, particularly in France. This theatrical gender rests on the improvisation of actors. One can consider the Commedia dell' Arte as descendance of the antique theater of Roma.
The actor has to know to improvise, but he must be agile, supple, expressive, dancing, seeing acrobatic.
Conventional personage have the character, the suit, the mask fixed permanently .
The mask is very expressive, and held a capital place in The Commedia dell' Arte: it was an attribute and almost a typical celebrity portrait.
One of the principal ditinguishing charestiristics of Commedia dell'Arte is that its composed of stock of characters…
It can be grouped in three categories :
The Lovers : They are a pairs of young men and women trying to be together. Often they does not wear masks, but sometime they used a simple mask……(Flaminia, Isabella, Silvia, for young women, and Leandro, Ottavio, Silvio, ,for young men…)
By opposition to pure lover faces, the other personages wear leather mask of emphasic and expressive face corresponding to their character :
The vecchi (Old men) : They are the ones who try to keep the lovers apart.(Pantalone, Dottore or Medico, Capitan…)
The Zanni (Comic servant) : They are responsible for distracting from the plot. Their humor is quite similar in style to that of the Marx brothers: Arlequin (Arlecchino), Polichinelle (Pulccinello), Scapin (Scapino), Scaramouche, Tartaglia…

The actors of Vis Fabula Companie are full artists. As well they play comedy, they are seeing acrobatics, play music and sing very well ...
